Allie’s training empowers teams and parents, as it takes a village to raise a child. Allie’s talks focus on staff/community/parent training to support kids with feeding challenges, feeding and communication development,  train early intervention professionals  through strengths-and routines-based intervention lens, and prelinguistic skills. She offers both personalized and curated talks and presentations, thoughtfully designed for each audience and adaptable to both in-person and virtual formats.

BIOGRAPHY: ABOUT ALLIE

Allie Glazer, M.S. CCC-SLP/L holds a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland, and has been a practicing SLP since 2012. She has worked across the lifespan in school, medical, and home health settings. Founder of alliemslp Speech Therapy Group, Inc., she provides in-home /virtual speech and feeding therapy on the San Francisco Bay peninsula through a strengths- and routines-based lens. EI is her passion population, and championing tiny humans and their grown ups is her favorite part of the job. Her dysphagia and feeding interest started in adult medical speech pathology, and branched out to Early Intervention during her first job where she learned she could combine her love of babies with her love of snack time.

EXAMPLE SPEAKING TOPICS

  • Anyone can search for “how many words should my child be saying by 18 months”, but Allie breaks down milestones and the skills needed to reach those milestones. Every child is on a different path, and you’ll leave with resources to better understand holistic child development, and the interplay between moving, talking, and eating. 

  • Round out your professional knowledge to support mealtimes for families in Early Intervention- even if you’re not a feeding therapist. This session provides an introduction into Pediatric Feeding Disorder, and how you can support families even if you’re not a feeding therapist. 

  • Learn about language acquisition, phases of development, and practical strategies to support communication development at home. Focus will be on embedding practice into every magic moments during daily routines, such as getting shoes on, getting into the car seat, and shared book reading.  

  • Many kids eat differently at school than they do at home. This training focuses on understanding the “big picture” of eating, not just chewing/swallowing. Learn theory and strategies to share with your team to best support young eaters in your program.

Feeding Foundations for all Early Intervention Professionals: Supporting the Family Mealtime

Pediatric Feeding Disorder (PFD) affects more than 1 in 37 American children under the age of 5, making it as or more prevalent than well-known conditions such as Autism and cerebral palsy. As early interventionists, you are often the first line of defense in supporting holistic development and caregiver-child relationships, and may field burning questions about mealtimes like “how much should my child be eating/drinking?”. Because 70-89% of children with developmental delays experience feeding difficulties, you’ve likely experienced PFD, even if you didn’t have a name for it.
